K-State readying for Big 12 tournament on day one

The K-State men’s basketball will have a first round bye as day one of the Big 12 tournament opens Wednesday.  The Wildcats and KU are the only conference schools to earn first round byes in each of the last four years.  K-State is the #2 seed and will face the winner of tonight’s tilt between #7 and #10 seeds Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.  Coach Frank Martin says they’ve been preparing for both the Cowboys and Sooners. A number of things are on the table for K-State in Kansas City.  Sophomore forward Jamar Samuels says first and foremost, they want to win the tournament title, but they still are holding out hope for a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament. 

24-6 K-State will open the Big 12 tournament on Thursday night at 6:00 pm at the Sprint Center against either Oklahoma State or Oklahoma.  SportsRadio 1350 and 101.5 K-Rock will have coverage at 4:00 pm with Powercat Gameday live from the Sprint Center.
